February Students of the Month

Our staff selects students to be recognized as Students of the Month. These students are selected for a variety of reasons including but not limited to, their effort and/or improvement in academics, behavior, or citizenship. Students are recognized with their pictures up on a bulletin board and at a schoolwide assembly for their accomplishments. It is an honor students work hard for. The following students were selected as February’s Students of the Month: Pictured from top left Luna Dorsey, Rome Feliciano, Elena Lu, Noah Martin, Sarah Hurtado, Shinthia Islam, Za’nyahlee Cruz, Hadley Bergsbaken, Brynn Motta, Olha Holovatenko, Mason Onyango, and Lily Frank.

Out of the selected students we have the difficult task of identifying an Outstanding Student of the Month. This student demonstrates all of the traits and qualities discussed above and has gone above and beyond to showcase her effort and growth. Our February Outstanding Student of the Month is Ava Chung. She will be recognized at a special meeting with the Superintendent, her family and me at the end of the month. Congratulations to all of our Students of the Month. We are proud.

PBIS Assembly for January held on 1/27

On January 27th we had our monthly PBIS assembly. During this time we recognized our January Students of the Month and our January Star Students. Our star students were selcted based on being a good listener, and a good friend.

Congratulations to all our students on the success they are having! We are proud of you!

Reminders:

2026-2027 Kindergarten Registration Information:

We are gearing up for the upcoming school year. We are in the process of gathering packets for students eligible for Kindergarten who will turn 5 on or before September 1, 2026.

Packets are anticipated to be mailed to families we have listed mid February. All registration is to be completed online.
A friendly reminder that if any incoming Kindergarten student attends a Newington Public Schools preschool program currently, they will not receive a Kindergarten packet as they will not need to register. They will begin to receive information for the upcoming school year over the summer.

Please make sure your friends or neighbors, who have students eligible for school next year, are aware that the information will be mailed in the next couple weeks. We encourage them to call our office at 860-666-4687 to confirm that their student is in our system, so they will receive the upcoming mailing.

Now Accepting Applications for Preschool

Newington Public Schools offers preschool opportunities, at all of our elementary schools, for three and four year old children. Our preschool program is designed to integrate children with special needs and children who are typically developing. Please click here for more information, or to apply for the 2026-27 school year.
