Residency & Security

All new and returning residents seeking the enrollment of their children in the Newington Public School District must follow the appropriate registration procedure before students will be allowed to attend classes.

Due to COVID-19 and the current mandates put forth by the state of CT, a 14-day quarantine is in effect if you have moved here from out of state or out of the country, and/or if you have traveled out of the state of CT. As a result, out of state travelors cannot enter any school buildings or Town Hall for 14 days from time of arrival and must have no symptoms of COVID19.
Children may not  start school for 14 days from time of arrival and have no symptoms of COVID-19 on start date. For further information on COVID-19 restrictions, please contact Mercy Hetherington, mhetherington@npsct.org or your child's school nurse.

Newington has a centralized registration process for all students, all registration is coordinated through the Residency & Security office located at Newington High School. Please see the New Student Registration information found under the ABOUT NPS tab or contact the Residency & Security Office for more information on student registration.

Notice: Newington Public Schools uses electronic surveillance systems on school property and on school buses transporting students. The system will be used to monitor student behavior in order to promote and maintain a safe environment for all students. Students and parents are hereby notified that the content of the surveillance system may be used in a student disciplinary proceeding. Surveillance content will be routinely erased on a periodic basis or be retained if necessary for use in a student disciplinary proceeding or other matter as determined necessary by the administration.
