Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!

As our school calendar indicates, Wednesday, December 24 through Friday, January 02 are school vacation days for all students and staff. Students and staff will resume classes on Friday, January 05. We are very excited to welcome our grade 7 and 8 students back in 2026 in the newly renovated wings!

School offices will be open on the days and hours below.

Friday, December 26: 8:00-3:00
Monday, December 29 through Wednesday, December 31: 8:00-3:00
Friday, January 02- 8:00-3:00

*There will be no Weekly Newsletter on Friday, December 19 or Friday, December 26 due to the holiday break. The next newsletter will be sent out on Friday, January 02.

NHS Program of Studies and Course Recommendations for Grade 8 Students

Hard to believe we are already there, but in January we will begin our process of course recommendations for Newington High School for our grade 8 students. Parent Pick-Up and Drop-Off Reminders

Hello Parents!

As the weather gets chillier as we head into the winter season, this is a great time for a friendly reminder about our school's drop-off and pick-up procedures for everyone who drives their children to school.

Student safety is always our top priority, and following these rules helps us keep things running smoothly and safely!

🚗 Morning Drop-Off Reminders
  • Designated Drop-Off Location: Please drop off all students at the John Wallace loop.
  • Drop-Off Time: Please do not drop off students before 7:45 AM.Our staff will be on duty to supervise and assist students starting at 7:45 AM.
  • Using the Drop-Off Zone: If you are driving your child, please use the designated drop-off area between Wallace and Paterson.
  • Safety Hazard Warning: Please do not drop your child off anywhere on Halleran Drive, especially along the curbs. This creates serious safety hazards with oncoming traffic.
🚌 Parking Lot Information
  • The Wallace parking lots are reserved for our school buses and staff vehicles only, so they are unavailable for student drop-offs or pick-ups.

Thank you so much for your understanding and cooperation with these traffic and parking regulations. Your compliance helps us ensure a safe start and end to every school day!

 

Early Release Days December 18-23!


⚠️ Important: Early Release Days for JWMS

To ensure the building is fully ready for Phase II of the renovation project and open for instruction on Monday, January 5, John Wallace Middle School will need to implement a series of Early Release Days prior to the holiday break.

  • Thursday, December 18
  • Friday, December 19
  • Monday, December 22
  • Tuesday, December 23

  • Dismissal Time: Students will be dismissed early at 1:05 PM on these four days. Students will follow our normal early release schedule in school on these days.
  • Please Note: These early release days are only for John Wallace Middle School due to the renovation project. All other district schools will be in session for full days on these dates. Our transportation department will be running the special early dismissal bus schedule for John Wallace students only.

Thank you in advance for your flexibility and support as we complete this critical transition to Phase II of the Wallace Renovation Project. We are very excited about the new spaces that await our students.
