COVID Update #1 - Aug. 26 - 30
Good Morning Staff, Parents, and Guardians,
I just wanted to take this opportunity to welcome you back. We are so thrilled to have all our students back in person. Your children continue to cooperate with all of our safety protocols while at school. Thank you for reinforcing mask wearing, hand washing, and social distancing with your students, it is much appreciated. As a reminder, for our younger students, please make sure they have a mask that fits properly. This will help minimize the need to quarantine students in the classroom.
I do want to take this opportunity to remind everyone about our important protocols regarding determining if you should send your child to school. Please do not send your child to school if the following conditions exist:
-
they have had a direct exposure to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 and are not yet vaccinated (or are vaccinated but have symptoms)
-
they have a COVID-19 test results pending
-
they have tested positive for COVID-19
-
they have the following COVID-19 symptoms:
-
Fever (100.0F or higher) or chills
-
Cough
-
Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
-
Fatigue
-
Muscle or body aches
-
Headache
-
New loss of taste or smell
-
Sore throat
-
Congestion or runny nose
-
Nausea or vomiting
-
Diarrhea
All parents of students with direct exposure to COVID-19, COVID-19 symptoms,COVID-19 test results pending, and positive tests should immediately fill out the Student Absence Form 2021-2022 for each absent event.
Fully vaccinated students: Please upload your child’s COVID-19 Vaccination card to Student - COVID-19 Vaccine Verification card 2021-22 form. Do NOT email or send in your child’s Vaccine Verification card to the school nurse.
Unfortunately, we did have two COVID cases in school last week in which some of the guidelines above were not followed. I am, however, pleased to report that we were able to minimize the number of students quarantined due to their vaccine status. As a reminder, vaccinated staff and students do not need to quarantine after an exposure as long as they remain symptom free. We do encourage them to get a PCR COVID-19 test 3-5 days after exposure.
