2020-2021 Kindergarten Registration

Due to COVID-19 and the current mandates put forth by the state of CT, a 14-day quarantine is in effect if you have moved here from out of state or out of the country, and/or if you have traveled out of the state of CT. As a result, out of state travelors cannot enter any school buildings or Town Hall for 14 days from time of arrival and must have no symptoms of COVID19. 
Children may not  start school for 14 days from time of arrival and have no symptoms of COVID-19 on start date. For further information on COVID-19 restrictions, please contact Mercy Hetherington, mhetherington@npsct.org or your child's school nurse. 


Eligibility:

In order for your child to be eligible to attend kindergarten for the 2020-2021 school year, he/she is required to be 5 years old on or before January 1, 2021.


Step 1: Determine and Contact your Elementary School

If you have received a Kindergarten Registration Packet please continue to Step 2. Otherwise, contact the school your child will attend to receive all required forms and information or click on the available packets below.  Review the elementary school district map to find out what elementary school your child will attend based on your address or contact our Residency Office at (860) 666-5611 ext. 1131.

Step 2: Online Registration

Complete the online registration form. You will need to sign up with an active email account to use the online registration system. Be sure to save your account information in case you need to return. If you do not have online access, you may visit the Lucy Robbins Welles Library or make an appointment at our Residency Office. Step 3: Residency Verification

Verification of a Newington address must occur before the registration process can continue. Please plan to attend the Residency Verification session at your prospective school. Click here to view session dates.  Parents/Guardians living with a Newington host (relative/friend) must make an appointment with the Residency Office to enroll new Kindergarten students. If you have any questions regarding Residency Verification or are unable to make the Residency Verification session at the school please contact our Residency Office at (860) 666-5611 extension 1131.

The following documents are required:

  • A copy of your child’s birth certificate (long form) or Passport

  • Mortgage agreement or mortgage payment book with address (if you own) OR current lease agreement, rent receipt, name of landlord and phone number (if you rent)

  • Parent/Legal Guardian Connecticut driver’s license or Photo ID with your name

  • AND a copy of two of the following items showing a Newington address:

    • Current utility bill (i.e., gas, electricity, phone, cable, car payment)

    • Auto insurance policy and current registration, if leased, payment booklet

    • Homeowner’s insurance policy with current address

    • Current and active bank/checking account with name/address

Medical Documentation Required:  Registration will NOT be complete until the school nurse medically clears your child.  The following medical documents are required to meet this requirement:
