Travel Advisory for NPS Families

Travel Advisory for NPS Families
Posted on 04/01/2021

Good Morning Parents and Guardians,

As we head into the long holiday weekend and the upcoming Spring Break, please take note of the following travel guidelines:

Gov. Lamont's most recent Travel Advisory indicates that as of Friday, March 19, 2021 the advisory had been modified from a requirement to recommended guidance.  Both Newington Public Schools and the Department of Public Health (DPH) continue to recognize that travel is still a high risk activity.  It is recommended that all families who do choose to travel practice the highest levels of safety protocols, including: the wearing of face masks, regular hand hygiene/sanitization and social distancing.

In order to keep our community safe and to keep our schools open please adhere to the following guidelines:

1.    IF you travel within the contiguous United States for more than 24 hours, to a state other than New York, New Jersey or Rhode Island, THEN:

o You are required to quarantine until you provide a negative COVID-19 PCR or rapid molecular test to your child’s school

o You should schedule your test in advance, either within 72 hours prior to leaving your travel destination or within 72 hours upon your return.

2.    For All - Regardless of Travel:  Immediately contact your school nurse should you feel any symptoms associated with COVID-19 prior to returning to school after the upcoming holiday breaks.

Each school will send out information about who to contact over the upcoming holiday breaks for any questions related to COVID and school reentry.

Be well and I hope you have a wonderful (and safe) Spring Break!
